In this webinar, Susan will explore how dialogue can be used to build communication-rich classrooms within a framework of culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogies. Participants will learn to distinguish between recitation (Initiation–Response–Evaluation/Feedback – IRE/F) and authentic dialogue, gain practical insights into Talk Moves and adaptable question stems, and leave with strategies to reflect on and strengthen their use of dialogic pedagogy in their own contexts.

About Susan

Introducing Professor Susan Sandretto – Professor in College of Education Te Kura Ākau Taitoka at the University of Otago Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka. A fully registered primary teacher, Susan teaches across primary teacher education and education studies programmes and supervises at postgraduate level. Her research interests include critical literacy, multiliteracies, education policy, and practitioner research. She was a Team Writer for the English Learning Area Curriculum Refresh (2023 version).
