About Nicola

Dr. Nicola Atwool is a former Associate Professor in the Social and Community Work Programme at the University of Otago. With qualifications in social work and child psychotherapy, her extensive experience includes roles with Oranga Tamariki and as a principal advisor for the Office of the Children’s Commissioner. Nicola’s research influences policy and practice to improve outcomes for children and young people exposed to adversity. Her unique blend of academic, policy, and practitioner experience allows her to bridge the worlds of theory and real-world application.
