Overview

These classes are suitable for beginners and people with some experience with clay.

The classes will introduce you to the hand building techniques of pinching, coiling and slab building. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills and confidence in transforming clay into a figurative, representational or an abstract form.

Over the eight week course, you will:

Week 1: Design and problem solve a piece of work. Make a marquette of your proposed sculpture.

Week 2: Look at different clays and surfaces appropriate for making your work including grogged clay and paper clay options, as well as glaze and non-traditional surface treatments.

Week 3 - 6: Making forms.

Week 7 - 8: Completing work, bisque firing and finishing of surface treatments.

Please note: You will need to bring $45 cash for your materials fee to the first class.

Sculpture Ceramics classes are taught by Bronwyn Mohring.
