Dr Kerryn Palmer has spent her career advocating, creating and devising for and with young people. As a mother of two, Kerryn is passionate about creating experience for the next generation to explore and share their voices in a way that is impactful and meaningful for them. Kerryn shares how connecting with your childhood self guides her process in creating positive and individually unique creative experiences and learning environments for all.

About KerrynKerryn is a Wellington-based freelance director, producer, teacher of drama and Mum of two. She has a PhD in devising theatre for and with young audiences. Since 2015 she has taught regularly in Victoria University's theatre programme and is the coordinator for the MFA (Creative Practice) in Theatre and producer of the annual Six Degrees Festival.Kerryn regularly directs at Wellington's professional theatres. She specialises in directing new New Zealand plays and productions for/with young people. She also devises and creates large-scale site-specific/generic works, (Pandemic, Sniper, Adrift, My Shout - Another Round at the Thistle Inn, Black November 1918) often with large casts of young people. Her company Wonderlight Theatre Aotearoa creates theatre for children under 8, and uses a unique model for menotring emerging theatre practitioners.Kerryn has directed many touring shows that have travelled around New Zealand for; Duffy Theatre, Capital E National Theatre for Children, Handstand Productions, Ensemble Impact and Arts on Tour. She teaches socail drama in Ryman Retirement villages and runs a programme at Arohata women's prison called Bedtime Stories from Inside. Kerryn is the national Director for PAYPA (Performing Arts for Young People Aotearoa)/ ASSITEJ New Zealand. PAYPA is an advocacy organisation that supports and connects a community of artists and organisations dedicated to performing arts by, with and for children and young people in Aotearoa New Zealand.
